Type: Red Country: Italia Region: Toscana Denomination: Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Grapes: Sangiovese 100% Aging: 3 years on 30hl oak barrel, then 6 months in not vitrified cement Alcohol content: 14. 5% Service temperature: 16/18 °C Pairing: Beef tenderloin, Grilled T-bone steak, Pasta with Porcini or Truffle Riserva Milecento is a reference wine in the Montalcino scenario that has acquired more and more importance over time, supported by the quality of the project carried out with dedication and competence by the Ferragamo family. Produced with low-yielding grapes (about 50 quintals per hectare) carefully selected several times and harvested by hand in that green and uncontaminated area located north-west of Montalcino, Riserva Millecento is a blend of eight historic vineyards planted in 1998, whose grapes are harvested, vinified and then aged separately. A land with a predominant presence of marl contains medium-dense vineyards (5000 plants/hectare) positioned at about 400 meters above sea level. Vinified in steel with long macerations, this wine ages 36 months in French oak barrels of 30 hectoliters and then undergoes a further passage of 6 months in non-vitrified concrete, a peculiar solution that makes it even more unique in the local panorama. The 2015 vintage is notoriously of high quality despite of a climate that has put the winemakers to the test and enhanced their experience and ability. The heat peaks registered translate into a more powerful, muscular and warm style, with vigorous but not sharp nor excessive tannins, confirming the high quality of the grapes that have reached harvest and the great potential for aging.
