2016 Fontodi Flaccianello della Pieve - Super Tuscans - 6 Bottles (0.75L)

Fontodi is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the valley that faces south of the village of Panzano called "Conca d'oro": a terroir known since centuries for its vocation to high quality viticulture, because of a unique combination of high altitude, good soil, powerful sun light and a warm and dry microclimate, with wide temperature range changes. The company, devoted to traditional farming on all the 130 hectares of property, is inspired by principles of naturalness and sustainability, not using agrochemicals, but trying to maximize the internal resources, with vineyards fertilized using compost produced from the pruning residues and manure from the herd of Chianina cows owned by the company. From this extraordinary example of agriculture with low environmental impact derives Flaccianello della Pieve, one of the flagship of Sangiovese in Chianti. The Flaccianello receives minimum treatments in the cellar, according to a production philosophy perfectly coherent with the line undertaken in the vineyard, characterized by a high manual selection of the best grapes: they only perform spontaneous fermentations with indigenous yeasts, able to enhance the terroir of origin, while the final refinement in barriques of Allier gives roundness without masking the fundamental characteristics of the product. These are the qualities that have made Flaccianello Fontodi a reference wine for high quality viticulture in Chianti.
