Campo del Drago è un Cru di Brunello di Montalcino che proviene dalla parcella più alta e più preziosa del vigneto Capanna: un ettaro e mezzo situato a 450 metri s. l. m. . A questa altezza le viti godono anche della migliore esposizione. La presenza importante di galestro nel terreno rende il vino estremamente complesso e longevo, con tannini ben presenti e raffinati. L’annata 2017 nel dettaglio Ho trovato un ottimo equilibrio nelle maturazioni del Sangiovese, questo dovrebbe portare a vini ricchi ma anche molto eleganti. Non ci sono stati stress idrici e le pareti fogliari a maturazione erano perfette. L’invaiatura si è conclusa in maniera uniforme, sinonimo di grande omogeneità. Il Sangiovese ha presentato un lieve ritardo nella maturazione che si è poi confermato anche nella data di raccolta. I Grappoli a maturazione erano piuttosto spargoli e le bucce resistenti, risultato del buon lavoro di tutto l’anno. Anche il peso degli acini alla raccolta era perfetto, il grande equilibrio delle viti non ha fatto assimilare acqua dalle piogge di metà Settembre Sui mosti si denota una ricchezza in colore superiore alla norma e buone complessità.
