Sassicaia 2017 Tenuta San Guido.
Sassicaia is one of the most well-known
Italian wines in the world, an oenological
monument that is a champion of balance, it is
the flagship of Italian oenology, one of the
Tuscan wines that has led the Supertuscans
to be famous in the world. It was born from
an intuition of Mario Incisa della Rochetta
who wanted to fulfill his dream of creating a
wine like the greats of Bordeaux, therefore he
decided to plant Cabernet Franc and
Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards on his
property, Tenuta San Guido.
Sassicaia Tenuta San Guido has become the
symbol of the great quality of Italian wine
production also thanks to Giacomo Tachis,
the estate's winemaker, who was able to make it great and famous throughout the world.
The grapes to produce it, cabernet sauvignon 85%, cabernet franc 15%, come from lands at altitudes between 100 and 300 meters, among the best company crus, in a land with a unique conformation and a west, south-west exposure.
Bolgheri Sassicaia has a brilliant ruby red, on the nose emerge notes of cherries, blackcurrants, rosemary and lavender, raspberry leaves and various herbaceous notes, pipe tobacco and hints of oak. The sip is intense and immediately surprising, complex and soft with a good body and infinite persistence.
It is a long-lived wine, it does not fear time, an immortal bottle. It is a perfect representation of the Bolgheri area, the first Italian wine so important as to require its own specification, the Bolgheri Doc.
