Tipo: Rosso Paese: Italia Type: Rosso Country: Italia Region: Piemonte Denomination: Barolo DOCG Grapes: Nebbiolo 100% Aging: 30 months in large barrel Alcohol content: 14% Service temperature: 18/20 °C Pairing: Formaggi stagionati, Selvaggina, Stewed meat Description For some years now, Vietti’s Barolo Rocche di Castiglione has been a constant award-winning wine from that beautiful universe of Barolo, where the zoning sublimates the stratified work of generations of winemakers who over the years have reached peaks of elegance and complexity now recognized and appreciated globally. The handed down winemaking tradition of the Vietti family has stood the test of time and generational changes, acquiring more and more prestige and importance in the panorama of the Langhe, nationally and also internationally. Today reference for the production from the Barolo area, Rocche di Castiglione best supports the growth of this winery and its evolution over time, now one of the main realities of the Langhe for enthusiasts and collectors, as well as investors. Produced with carefully selected grapes from the Rocche cru in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto, from vineyards with an average age of 68 years grafted with Guyot on steep soils composed of yellow-bluish marl with a density of 4600 vines/hectare, Barolo Rocche di Castiglione ferments in steel tanks in contact with the skins for up to 4 weeks using the submerged cap methodology with frequent pumping over, then carrying out a slow malolactic fermentation in large barrels and ageing for thirty months before bottling. The result in bottle is excellent, confirming the experienced and skilful work done in the vineyard and in the cellar by Vietti: Barolo Rocche di Castiglione presents itself as an imposing wine in its elegance, with a wide olfactory bouquet that ranges from ripe dark red fruit to rose petal and to tangerine, with further herbaceous notes reminiscent of chamomile and tertiary notes of coffee and menthol. In the mouth it shows an extreme freshness together with a certainly important tannin that time will soften, anticipating an explosive finish that combines a very long persistence with an extraordinary floral aftertaste. Vietti’s Barolo Ravera has been literally defined as an “imposing wine” that maximizes the characteristics of this famous cru, proof of the extraordinary work done by Vietti in the 2017 vintage to deliver another masterpiece in bottle.
