Canvas, stretcher, and frame are all consistent with the date on the newspaper of October 9, 1930. Materials, subject, and style strongly suggest a painter of European origin or training. Stamp from the Parisian paint and canvas supply firm of Lucien Lefebvre Foinet stamp on canvas verso. Provenance: The estate of a prominent Bloomfield Hills, MI collector. By descent to consignor.
