20th C. Indonesian Wood, Gold & Glass Kris Sheath

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden sheath meant to accommodate the blade of a kris dagger. The sheath consists of a wooden blade housing of a narrow form that is surmounted by a bulbous shoulder guard with vertical crests on each side. The blade housing is fitted with a 55% gold and 45% silver alloy sheath jacket with an open vertical slit on front as well as dozens of faceted glass cabochons inlaid across the foliate-adorned obverse. Size: 5.7" W x 16.7" H (14.5 cm x 42.4 cm); quality of alloy: 55% gold (equivalent to 12K+) and 45% silver.

Condition Report: Sheath jacket is removable from blade housing but is likely not original to the sheath. Slight bending and small indentations to sheath jacket, with minor nicks to some glass inlays. Nice patina across wooden blade housing and sheath jacket.
