20th C. Indonesian Wood, Gold & Glass Kris Sheath

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden sheath meant to accommodate the blade of a kris dagger. The sheath consists of a wooden blade housing of a narrow form that is surmounted by a bulbous shoulder guard with vertical crests on each side. The blade housing is fitted with a 55% gold and 45% silver alloy sheath jacket with an open vertical slit on front as well as dozens of faceted glass cabochons inlaid across the foliate-adorned obverse. Size: 5.7" W x 16.7" H (14.5 cm x 42.4 cm); quality of alloy: 55% gold (equivalent to 12K+) and 45% silver.
