20th C. Laotian Hmong Textile Baby Carrier

Southeast Asia, possibly Laos, Hmong culture, ca. late 20th century. A Hmong baby carrier comprised of a variety of colorful cotton fabrics providing rich contrasts of orange, deep blue, spring green, magenta, golden yellow, and salmon pink hues. The intricate geometric designs were created via fabric appliques and embroidery. This example is particularly sweet with seven pom poms decorating the lower appliques! Size: 24.25" L x 15.25" W (61.6 cm x 38.7 cm)
