20th C. Philippine Wood Female Santo Figure

**First Time At Auction**

Southeast Asia, Philippines, ca. first half of the 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden figure of a standing female saint exhibiting Spanish Colonial stylistic influences. She wears a lengthy skirt, has a ridgid back, and holds a tall wooden plaque in front of her body. Her head boasts sunken eyes, a crooked nose, full lips, and a petite chin, all beneath a centrally-parted coiffure that droops past the nape of her neck. Faint traces of red and white pigment are visible within some recessed areas. Size: 2.75" W x 6.75" H (7 cm x 17.1 cm).

Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.
