Junior Forty (J40) Pedal Car, Bargoed, South Wales, 1953 Marks: No. 10868 58 x 27 x 22-1/2 inches (147.3 x 68.6 x 57.2 cm) This Austin J40 pedal car is being sold as part of the Nic Dallas Collection The pedal car has no pedal mechanism, a mock four cylinder engine with spark plugs under the bonnet and a hinged and latched boot. glass lenses to the headlamps, chromed grill, hub caps and front and rear bumpers, Dunlop pneumatic tires and oil cloth upholstery. Built of scrap sheet metal from the Austin automobile factory at Longbridge, the pedal cars were built and paint the same as the motor cars. Condition Report: Missing are the pedal mechanism, Austin Flying A hood ornament, headlamp switch and wiring, hand brake, horn and spare tire, paint is chipped and scratched with some loss, torn upholstery at upper right corner, in original condition with wear indicative of age and use.
