A Carved Wood Napoleonic Prisoner-of-War Ship Model, circa 1795-1815 16 x 13-1/2 x 3-3/4 inches (40.6 x 34.3 x 9.5 cm) (model) 19-5/8 x 15-1/2 x 8-1/8 inches (49.8 x 39.4 x 20.6 cm) (case) Property from the Estate of Kenneth Alan Hill, Sr., Fort Worth, Texas PROVENANCE: Vallejo Gallery, Newport Beach, California The model of a British Navy frigate is a highly detailed and fine example of the artistic craftsmanship of the prisoners, mostly French but some Dutch and British, held during the Napoleonic Wars (1795-1815). This model is of carved boxwood and fully rigged mounted to an inlaid base and set in a mirrored mahogany and glass case. Condition Report: One cannon is missing from the gun port on the port side, otherwise in good condition.
