A Steuben Glass and Chromed Metal Thomas Edison Plaque Luminar, designed 1929 Marks: STEUBEN, (fleur-de-lis), 1929, C.G.W. 10-5/8 x 8-1/4 x 2-1/2 inches (27.0 x 21.0 x 6.4 cm) A COLLECTION OF STEUBEN AND TIFFANY GLASS FROM A MIDWESTERN ESTATE On October 21, 1929 Henry Ford hosted a gala celebration in honor of Thomas Edison. The event commemorated the 50th anniversary of Edison's light bulb and the dedication of the Edison Institute, now known as The Henry Ford. Mr. Ford commissioned Frederick Carder of the Steuben Glass Works to create this illuminated profile portrait of Edison. Guests received a portrait as part of their dinner place setting.
