An English Inlaid Walnut Veneer Sewing Box, mid-19th century 6-1/2 x 11 x 7-1/2 inches (16.5 x 27.9 x 19.1 cm) The box is of mahogany with polished walnut veneer inlaid with mother-of-pearl decorations of flowers, birds and butterflies on the front and top, resting on four bun feet with turn wooden knobs on the sides. The inside is lined with a marbled paint-splatter wallpaper and a removable tray.
