2pc Framed Italian Monochrome Silver Gelatin Photographs

A pair of black and white photographs displaying street scenes in Rome printed on glossy silver gelatin photo paper with white matboard borders and brush brass-toned frames. One photograph was taken from the shadowy interior of a bus. The front window frames the street intersection of Via delle Quattro Fontane and Via del Quirinale in Rome and captures a priest mid-stride in front of the River Tiber fountain on the right side. The deep depth of field allows viewers to see details of the buildings, cars, and clothing of the pedestrians along the street. Second photograph displays a captivating composition of the bus driver tying a bicycle to the racks on top of the bus. The dramatic use of light and composition in these images show the influences of well-known straight photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson and Paul Strand. Unmarked and unsigned.
