3 BACCARAT CHERUB PORTE COUTEAU

A set of three Cherub Porte Couteau, or knife rests, Baccarat Crystal, France, 1907. The rests show a center bar in clear crystal supported by satin finished busts of cherubs at either end. The busts were modeled by Jean Antoine Houdon, a sculptor known for his sculpted busts of philosophers and statesmen such as Louis XVI, Voltaire, Molière, Napoleon 1st and III. Reference: Model S503 in the 1907 Baccarat Crystal catalog. Reference: Unmarked, made prior to the acid etched mark first used by the firm in 1936. Measuring 4″L x 1.25″W x 1.75″H. Weight 1 pd.
