[ translate ]

Ancient Near East, the Levant, Canaan, Middle Bronze Age, ca. 1950 to 1539 BCE. A fine set of 3 forged-bronze tools consisting of a petite chisel and two dense axe heads. The elongated triangular chisel head has a tapered tang and a broad edge that could withstand countless strikes. The first axe head is of a trapezoidal form with an acutely angled blade edge and a slight inward indentation along the tang periphery. The largest tool exhibits a carinated midsection, a thick tang for hafting to a wooden pole, and a sturdy blade edge meant for shaping and cutting. Size of largest: 4.3" L x 1.5" W (10.9 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of John Piscopo, San Diego, California, USA, 1990's or earlier. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent increases of shipments being seized by Australian & German customs (even for items with pre-UNESCO provenance), we will no longer ship most antiquities and ancient Chinese art to Australia & Germany. For categories of items that are acceptable to ship to Australia or Germany, please contact us directly or work with your local customs brokerage firm.

Display stands not described as included/custom in the item description are for photography purposes only and will not be included with the item upon shipping.

#131872
Condition Report: All pieces have minor abrasions and light encrustations commensurate with age, with slight bending to overall form of chisel, and one stable hairline fissure to one corner of tang of smaller axe head, otherwise intact and very good. Great patina throughout.
