3 Egyptian Stone & Faience Wadjet Amulets

Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A lovely gathering of 3 powerful protective amulets known as wadjet (also wedjat, "Eye of Horus"). First is a faience wadjet covered with spring green glaze. Second is a black and white speckled granite wadjet with a convex form. The largest wadjet is carved from opaque, dark red jasper and has an unperforated suspension tube on top. Size of largest (jasper): 1.2" L x 0.875" H (3 cm x 2.2 cm)

Provenance: private Corpus Christi, Texas, USA estate collection, acquired 1960s to 1970s
