3 Moche Silver Bird Beads Mounted on Tree Stand

Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Moche to Chimu culture, ca. 300 to 1300 CE. A lovely collection of 3 silver beads cast in the form of birds- each pierced with 4 holes for suspension. They are charmingly mounted on a stand that resembles a tree and are removable if one wishes to string them as pendants. In the Pre-Columbian world, birds were sky animals associated with the sun, the moon, and all the celestial elements. As flying creatures, birds served as messengers between humans and the sacred deities of the celestial realm. Size of bird (all about the same): 0.6" L x 0.8" W x 0.2" H (1.5 cm x 2 cm x 0.5 cm); 3.6" H (9.1 cm) on included custom stand; silver quality: 83 to 96%: weight: 5.5 grams
