Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A collection of 3 high quality 75.9% to 80.1% gold earrings (equivalent to 18K+ to 19K+) and a fragment of a silver bezel. The 3 earrings are annular shapes, created by bending the terminals ends that taper out from the slightly crescent shaped body, and 2 contain spherical settings that may have contained additional stones or beads. The silver item is ovoid, with the remains of loops on the verso for attaching to a band as a ring or bracelet setting - the face is infilled with mineral deposits and encrustations, but may have once contained an intaglio stone. Condition Report: Earrings with spheres are repaired, with break lines across bodies as shown. Patina and mineral deposits to both earrings. Third earring is intact and excellent. Silver bezel is a fragment of a larger piece with repair to verso rings with adhesive. Heavy wear and abrasions. Mineral and earthen encrustations throughout.
