John Lathrop (1740-1816) did missionary work among the Indians, became pastor of the old North Church in Boston in 1768, and had strong negative feelings about the Roman Catholic Church. Prince was also a scientist and made improvements to the microscope and the kaleidoscope but the improvement of the air pump was his most important scientific contribution.
