Emily Mason (1932-2019) Untitled, 1989 Oil stick on paper 29 x 23 inches (73.7 x 58.4 cm) Signed, dated, and inscribed lower left: Emily Mason VT '89 "I was familiar with Mason's expressionistic and colorful abstract compositions, so I jumped at the chance to bring a series of unique paintings on paper into the collection in 2011. Like Judith Godwin (also in this sale, see lot 31023), Mason was an underappreciated artist in her time, who is only now beginning to receive the recognition her work deserves.
