Natvar Prahladji Bhavsar (b. 1934) Red, 1978 Raw pigment and acrylic binding on paper 45-1/2 x 41-1/2 inches (115.6 x 105.4 cm) "A series of Bhavsar's large, illuminating, pigment on paper pieces were assimilated into the Corporate Collection when G.E. bought NBC in 1986. An earlier reframing had covered the labels on the back. So we had to unframe the pieces and decipher the signature on the back. I hadn't heard of Natvar Bhavsar before then, and discovered an intriguing story of a young Indian artist who came to the U.S., and eventually New York City, at a time when that was most uncommon." - Glenn Macura, Curator, G.E.
