Cotta, Tubingue [Tubingen, Germany] and Treuttel & Wurz, Paris, [1815], 229 pages. 32mo, leather covers and gilt fore edges; b) 1844 reprint of The New England Primer Improved for the Most Easy Attaining the True Reading of English To Which is Added the Assembly of Divines, and Mr. Cotton's Catechism, published by Ira Webster, Hartford, 1844. 32 mo paper over board cover with leather spine. Two editions of Thomas de Quincey's book: Confessions of an English Opium Eater: c) Confessions of an English Opium-Eater, by Thomas De Quincey, edited by Richard Garnett, published by Kegan Paul, Trench & Co., London, 1885, 275 pages. 18mo, fine leather, gilt top edge; d) Confessions of an English Opium-Eater by Thomas De Quincey, published by Henry Frowde / Oxford University Press, London, 1906, The World's Classics series, no. XXIII The Works of Thomas de Quincey, Vol. I, 288 pages. 18mo, leather cover, gilt top cover.

Dimensions are: largest - c) 6 1/2 in (16.5 cm) long X 3 3/4 in (9.5 cm) wide. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: a) front cover board is loose, foxing throughout, scorching on pages behind and opposite frontispiece engraving; b) cover boards very wrinkled and stiff, possibly humidity damage; surface and edge wear to covers; foxing throughout, particularly on inside covers.c) rebound by Tout Binder, some edge wear, d) edge wear, loss to base of spine, foxing on inside cover and red stains where dye of cover boards has bled.

Provenance: From the family collection of William J. Latta, noted collector of Napoleon memorabilia and/or his son-in-law Harry Franck, a well known travel writer, by descent.
