Title: FOUR-MOST BOYS No. 39 * Double-Cover
Place Published:
Publisher:Star [Indicia: Star Publications, Inc.]
Date Published: March, 1950
Description:

VG- (3.5) and Fine- (6.5). Double cover. Top cover is 3.5 with short splits to spine ends (¼" or less), small abrasion with paper peel above bottom staple, light spine stress and creasing, ½" tear, soiling to back cover, some foxing to pages. Bottom cover is 6.5 with light corner wear. Both sets of staple holes are perfectly aligned, as are the front and back covers, and the staple posts are properly positioned and untampered with — this is definitely a true double-cover printing error and not a later marriage. Staple rust, centerfold loose at bottom staple. Tan pages. Professionally cleaned and pressed by Comics In A Flash. Cover: L.B. Cole. Art: John Jordan, Harold de Lay, uncredited others. GPAnalysis: No reported sales in this grade. Only two reported sales in any grade, none since 2017.

Nice double-cover on this L.B. Cole mag. Inside: a man shoots himself in head in front of a bunch of kids; the White Rider dishes out vigilante justice, like the missing link between antebellum night riders and Dick Ayres's Ghost Rider.

A deluxe limited edition of 12 hardcover catalogues is available, in addition to a small number of softcovers. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $40, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Eight of the 12 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.

Consignments welcome for PBA's Spring 2022 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Find out why PBA is the new fan-fave of comics auctioneers. "This is some of the best commentary I've yet seen on the quality of the content of comic books... Priceless." — R. Crumb.
