History of Maker: August Schatz and a group of business partners including his sons Kurt and Charles and Anton Harder formed Jahresurhenfabrik in 1881. In 1882 the company began making clocks using the Graham escapement, marking the first time 400-day clocks were successfully produced for the market. The company made mantel clocks, desk clocks, and later alarm clocks for more than 100 years, only ceasing production briefly during World War I and II, until it closed its doors permanently in 1985.
