40015: US Sword with Names of Civil War Battles Etched
US Sword with Names of Civil War Battles Etched on the Scabbard. Sword with "PDL" engraved at the top of the 33 3/4" blade. The blade has etching on both sides, with an eagle on one and "US" on the other. The blade has some age, but no major pitting, overall a very good blade. The fish skin wire wrapped grip, pommel and guard are all in fine condition. The scabbard is very interesting having battles from the Civil War engraved into it. The battles listed are "West Point, Trent Farm, Gaines Mills, Savages Station, White Oak Swamp, Charles City Cross Roads, Malvern Hill, Harrisons Landing". The scabbard retains its hangers and drag. There is some wear and a few scattered dents, but nothing major. Partial leather present as well. It is likely that the original owner of this sword saw action in all the battles listed.
