Knight's Templar Sword Etched J. J. Gosper. Templar sword of typical form and design etched J. J. GOSPER. Note: According to consignor and previous auction notes, This is the same John Jay Gosper [1844-1933] that was Arizona Territory Secretary of State; Acting Governor of Arizona during the Gunfight at the OK Corral; Secretary of State of Nebraska and one-time roommate of Doc Holliday in Prescott, Arizona Territory. Also, Gosper County Nebraska was named after him. The USS Gosper is named for Gosper County. Association nor Ex. Gosper Estate has been authenticated or confirmed by Heritage Auctions, but we did find this sword selling [along with a large grouping of items pertaining to Gosper] as Lot 100 in Batterman's Prescott, AZ sale January of 2012 for $1600 dollars, a photocopy of the paperwork is included in the sale.
