Colt Model 1851 Navy Single Action Revolver. Serial no. 173972 [barrel, frame, triggerguard and butt] and 3972 [cylinder], .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front brass bead sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Etched cylinder scene. COLT'S / PATENT to left side of frame. Brass gripstraps. Butt stamped with the number 4 above screw. Oil-finished walnut one-piece grip. Manufactured in 1863. Condition: Very good. Retaining traces of finish, the balance a smooth grey patina with noticeable signs of handling wear, age and patches of pitting.
