Sharps New Model 1863 Saddle Ring Carbine. Serial no. 79781, .54 caliber, 22-inch barrel with fixed front sight and folding rear ladder sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Lock marked: R.S. LAWRENCE PAT. / APRIL 12TH 1859 / C. SHARP'S PAT. / OCT. 5TH 1852. Smooth walnut straight stock and fore-end. Hinged patchbox to right side of stock. Metal buttplate. Condition: Good. Finish a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear, age and patches of pitting. Saddle ring absent. Heavy dings and bruising present to wood. Action good. Lightly pitted bore.
