Clara Barton Autograph Note Signed "Clara Barton." One page of a bifolium, 3.75" x 6", no place; September 12, 1896. Addressed to an unknown recipient, the note is inscribed: "Accept I pray you sincere thanks for proffered friendship and believe me. Very Sincerely yours, Clara Barton September 12, 1896." Barton was active as a nurse during the Civil War and is credited with founding the American Red Cross. During the spring of 1896, Barton travelled to Armenia to provide relief work in the provinces there. Condition: Flattened mail folds, with some light toning at the upper margin.
