Ulric Dahlgren Signed Carte de Visite. 2.5" x 4", a standing portrait in uniform, with an R.W. Addis, Washington, D.C. backstamp on verso. Signed by Dahlgren on verso: "Miss Derose with Compliments of Ulric Dahlgren Genl Sigel's Staff." Ulric Dahlgren (1842-1864), the son of Admiral John A. Dahlgren, was killed during a disastrous raid on the Confederate capital of Richmond. Papers allegedly found on his person indicated the point of the raid was to assassinate Confederate President Jeff Davis and may have contributed to John Wilkes Booth's decision to assassinate Lincoln the following year.
