Winfield Scott Hancock Signed Carte de Visite. 2.5" x 4", a standing portrait in uniform, with no backstamp. Signed below the image: "Winfd S. Hancock Major General U.S. Vols." Winfield Scott Hancock, (1824-1886) was an 1864 graduate of West Point. He fought with distinction in many battles, most notably at Gettysburg, where he sustained a wound while sitting atop his horse and directing his men. This wound would affect him the rest of the war.
