Samuel Adams Appointment Signed "Samuel Adams." One partially printed page, 9.25" x 14.75", Boston; June 23, 1794. Appointing "William Lewis of Marshfield...to be Coroner of Plimouth Co." Signed by John Avery as Secretary. With a paper embossed seal at the top left. Docketing on verso. Samuel Adams was elected to the Continental Congress and was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, yet he refused to attend the Constitutional Convention. He later served as governor of Massachusetts from 1794 to 1797. Condition: Flattened folds, with light edge toning and soiling. Creasing around the paper seal.
