Benjamin Franklin Pay Document Signed "B Franklin Presidt." One partially printed page, 8" x 6.25", Philadelphia; December 7, 1785. Addressed to David Rittenhouse, Treasurer. It directs Rittenhouse to "Pay to Adam Sybert late of John P Schotts Comp [illegible] of the Pennsylvania Line, or his order, the sum of four pounds nineteen shillings and nine pence…" Signed on verso by Sybert. Franklin was serving as President of Pennsylvania, a position which he would hold from 1785 to 1788. Rittenhouse served as treasurer of Pennsylvania and later became the first director of the United States Mint. Condition: Flattened folds, with large separations at the horizontal folds.
