5 Adlake Padlocks, Chicago RTA - No Keys

This collection features five vintage railroad switch padlocks manufactured by the Adams & Westlake Company (Adlake) of Chicago, Illinois. Four of the padlocks are mid-to-late 20th-century cast aluminum alloy models marked "B N" (Burlington Northern) and "PAT 2040482", each equipped with attached steel retaining chains. The central padlock is an earlier cast bronze/brass heart-shaped Adlake model stamped "C R T" on the shackle for the Chicago Rapid Transit Company. Accompanying the bronze padlock's chain is a brass uniform button converted to a tag featuring an intertwined "CRT" monogram, alongside a round brass check tag stamped "Chicago Elevated Railroads - Lamp Check" on the obverse and "2" on the reverse. Items display heavy authentic patina, surface wear, oxidation, verdigris on copper-alloy components, and light surface scratching consistent with active railway operation; keys are not included and internal mechanisms remain untested.
