[ translate ]

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A wonderful ensemble of 5 ear spools - 4 handmade from pottery and 1 hand-carved from stone - all ring-like in form. The pottery earspools are each formed from a slender strip of clay. The largest is a red pottery earspool with raised peripheries and a slightly convex interior. Next is a pink-hued pottery earspool with a corseted body and a ridged periphery on one end. The last 2 pottery ear adornments are both black with flared edges. Boasting mottled hues of cream, rosy grey, peach, and pale pink, the stone example is thicker than the others and displays one flared face with a wavy periphery. The face is incised with a single ring of petite annular indentations, some still bearing remnants of mica. Please note that Lucite stand is for photography purposes only. Size (of largest): 2.1" in diameter x 0.6" W (5.3 cm x 1.5 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent increases of shipments being seized by Australian & German customs (even for items with pre-UNESCO provenance), we will no longer ship most antiquities and ancient Chinese art to Australia & Germany. For categories of items that are acceptable to ship to Australia or Germany, please contact us directly or work with your local customs brokerage firm.

#165652
Condition Report: Some nicks and abrasions to all. Losses to mica inlays on stone earspool. Otherwise, all are nice with rich earthen deposits throughout.
