Five (5) Mid 19th century Japanese color wood block prints, including Utagawa Kunisada, Utagawa Kuniyoshi. 1st item: Utagawa Kunisada, also known as Utagawa Toyokuni III (Japanese, 1786-1865) wood block print titled "Woman with a Wooden Tub" depicting a washer woman with a wooden tub, a small circular scenic landscape top left. Signed "Kunisada Toyokuni" with publisher's seal for Yamaguchiya Tobei (1784-1868) and censor's date seal for 1846 with additional Japanese text. Paper label en verso. Float mounted and matted under glass in a wooden frame. Sheet - 14 1/4" H x 10" W. Framed - 25 3/4" H x 20 5/8" W. 2nd item: Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese, 1798-1861) triptych wood block print titled "Scene from a Kabuki Play: Women Fighting with Wooden Practice Swords" depicting five Kabuki actresses, four holding wooden practice swords, in a theatrical setting. Signed with publisher's seal for Kogaya Katsugoro (active mid 19th century) and censor's date seal for 1845 with additional Japanese text. Paper label en verso. Float mounted under glass in a black wooden frame with gilt rabbet edge. Sight - 15 1/4" H x 30 3/4" W. Framed - 17 1/2" H x 33" W. 3rd item: Utagawa Kuniyoshi (Japanese, 1798-1861) wood block print titled "Portrait of a Kabuki Actor" depicting a Kabuki actor holding a piece of fabric and the hem of his kimono in a theatrical setting. Signed "Ichiyusai Kuniyoshi" with publisher's seal for Kawaguchiya Uhei (active mid 19th century) and censor's date seal for 1841 with additional Japanese text. Paper label en verso. Float mounted and matted under glass in a wooden frame. Sheet - 14 1/4" H x 9 1/2" W. Framed - 21 1/2" H x 16 3/4" W. 4th item: Memorial print of Kabuki actor Matsumoto Koshiro V, created on the occasion of 37th anniversary of his death, circa 1850. Japanese text above, no seals present. Paper label en verso. Float mounted and matted under glass in a gilt silver wooden frame. Sheet - 14 1/4" H x 9 7/8" W. Framed - 22 1/4" H x 18" W. 5th item: Wood block print, possibly created as a memorial print for a Kabuki actor. Red seal center left and Japanese text above.
