[ translate ]

Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. An interesting collection of 5 bronze and brass medical instruments, some with decorative handles. The assorted implements include a spoon with a knob finial, a lancet, and then three tools with two uses: a scoop with a pestle at the opposite end, a spatula with a scoop, and a spatula with a pestle. All were used in preparing medicinal remedies from herbs or other ingredients.
