55th Pennsylvania Infantry Grouping

Sgt. William Hugh Long enlisted in the 55th Pennsylvania Infantry in mid-1861 and served through the close of the War. Along the way he gathered various personal items, including those presented here. Included in this grouping are Long’s promotion to Sergeant dated May 1, 1865, leather wallet, toothpaste tin, and mess plate. An inscribed note affixed to the plate reads, “Mess plate carried by Wm. Hugh Long 1861-65”.

All items are in honest period condition. A great archive of personal items from a Civil War soldier from the Keystone state.
