6 Inca Copper Tumis & Tweezer Fragments

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Inca, ca. early 15th to early 16th century CE. A nice ensemble of sheet copper tumis and tweezers from the ancient Inca. First are two minimalist tumis: one with a narrow handle and an oblong blade head, and the other with a uniformly rectangular body and a rounded blade edge; both with remains of woven textile wrappings. Next is a petite tweezer fragment with a curled attachment end. Two halves of one tweezer set are shown mirrored within the display case, both with scallop-shell profiles and a tubular attachment point. The largest piece is an intact set of tweezers with a tumi-shaped head. Size of largest (intact tweezers): 4.6" L x 3.625" W (11.7 cm x 9.2 cm); (case): 12.25" L x 8.25" W (31.1 cm x 21 cm)

Provenance: private Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA collection; ex-Dr. David Harner collection, Springdale, Arkansas, USA, acquired between the 1950s and 1960s

Condition Report: Smallest tweezer is one half of a full set, and two matching halves were conjoined at one time; both tumis and largest tweezers are intact and very good. All pieces have light encrustations and slight bending to overall forms. Great patina throughout. Remains of woven textile wrappings present on both tumis as well as one side of largest tweezers. All are displayed within a Riker case.
