(6) Sterling Silver Nut and Coin Bowls: a) (2) John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater Sterling Bowls: 1884, London, nut bowls / side dishes in shell form on round raised bases hallmarks for: John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater.

Dimensions are: 3/4 inches tall X 4 1/4 inches wide X 3 1/2 inches wide. All dimensions are approximate. Weight: 193.3g, 6.21 troy oz; b) Sterling silver coin dish, thaler coin depicting Empress Maria Theresia of Habsburg facing right and surrounded by the legend "Maria Theresia, Dei Gratia, Romanorum Imperatrix, Hungariae Bohemiaeque Regina". Lettering: M·THERESIA·D·G· R·IMP·HU·BO·REG·S·F·.

Dimensions are: 1 inch high X 3 1/2 inches diameter. Weight: 91.5g, 2.93 troy oz. c) 1972, Cm Co, sterling silver dish with double headed eagle in the center commemorating the 300 anniversary of the founding of C. Hoare & Co. Bank in Cheapside, London.

Dimensions are: 3/8 inch high X 3 1/2 inches diameter. Weight: 2.93 troy oz. All dimensions are approximate. d) (2) Pair of Stokes & Ireland Ltd. (William Henry Stokes & Arthur George Ireland), Chester, 1928, pin trays, each engraved with a horse head.

Dimensions are: 3/8 inch tall X 3 inches diameter, combined weight: 46.9g, 1.5 ozt. All measurements are approximate.

Condition: Free of chips, cracks, and repairs.

Provenance: This item is part of the Slade family holdings of paintings, sterling silver and Chinese porcelain (see Oakridge Auction Gallery's March 14th auction, lots. 149 to lot. 155, which was a Chinese blanc de chine Dehua figurine of a robed Bodhidharma or Damo which sold for $416,000USD). The collection was assembled by several members of the family and then by descent to the present owner. The collection was begun by Henry Adolphus Warre Slade (1869 - 1936). He was a British businessman, member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (1908/09) and the Director of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation between 1900 and 1902. The collection was added to by his sons, Royal Navy Commander Gerald Gordon Slade, who fought in both World Wars, and his brother Maurice Gordon Slade, pictured with his mother Beatrice Slade (photo not included). The Slade family hold peerage and are noted in Charles Mosley’s. “Burke's Peerage”.
