Sam Falls' artistic practice often captures the effects of nature, and his ambitious 2012 exhibition at Karma, New York, Life Size, epitomized his explorative approach to art making which combines the organic as material, as well as the organic as process. Included in this exhibition, as documented in the publication of same name, was the present lot, part of a stack of hand-dyed firewood, that, like much of Falls' sculpture, was as much left to the uncontrollable natural elements as it was left to his intentions as an artist.
