Glenna Goodacre (American, 1939-2020) Jump for Joy, 2011 Bronze with brown patina 13-1/2 inches (34.3 cm) high on a 1 inch (2.54 cm) high granite base Ed. 15/25 Inscribed on base: G. Goodacre / 2011 15/25 PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF GLENNA GOODACRE The jovial spirit of Jump for Joy echos that of Puddle Jumpers, one of Goodacres most admired sculptures. Goodacre's inspiration came in 1989 where she states "I was looking for inspiration for a big Fall exhibition with my painter friend, Wilson Hurley. In a children's' fashion magazine, I found a photo of a whole bunch of kids holding hands and running, but the most intriguing thing and the challenge for me and the foundry is that many of the kids were air-born. "Puddle Jumpers" has some of the first flying bronze figures I know of. In the end, the sculpture didn't look at all like those photos, but the piece became almost a trademark for me and was wildly popular. For better or for worse, it started an epidemic across the country of running, jumping, kid bronzes." HID03101062020 © 2020 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
Condition Report: Overall dimensions: 13-1/2 x 22 x 6.25 inches on a 1 inch base; minor surface dust; overall, there do not appear to be any major condition issues affecting the work.
