This is a collection of photos of when John Steinbeck first met his soon to be third Wife Memorial Day Weekend of 1949 in Monterey, California. All photos were found in an envelope inscribed by Elaine which says, " When first we met, Monterey 1949, Memorial Day Weekend". A photo of Elaine inscribed - "Me in a garden near Johns house", "John and me at a party in Pebble Beach in May", "John, Me and Miss Blanche, a neighbor" Four photos of Johns house, two inscribed in John Steinbecks handwriting.
