A 1788 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper's Sabre

With curved fullered blade double-edged at the point, the forte etched with owner's monogram 'RF' on one side, and stamped with maker's details and date on the back, regulation steel hilt (some pitting) with long ovoidal langets, small lobed rear quillon stamped 'C23' on top, tapering knuckle-guard with bevelled edges, beaked pommel-cap and back-piece in one, leather grip over cord bindings (minor damage), and later buff-leather sword-knot, in its steel scabbard (some old dents and light pitting) engraved 'C23' on one side at the locket, and with two rings for suspension
