A 1796 Pattern Life Guard Officer's Full-Dress Sword

With fullered tapering blade (some rust staining) double-edged towards the point and stamped with Prosser's mark on one side at the forte, regulation copper hilt (originally gilt) with boatshell-guard and moulded border, swelling rear quillon, knuckle-guard screwed to the globular pommel, the latter with button-shaped finial, grip bound with twisted silver wire, and gilt bullion sword-knot; together with its brass locket engraved with maker's details in a rectangle on one side, and with owner's crest above the frog-hook on the other (2)
