A 17th century German silver parcel gilt tankard, Augsburg, maker's mark MB conjoined, possibly Melchior Bayr or Mathias Bregel, c.1635, marked on rim of lid and underside of base, the globular body chased with floral motifs and raised on a circular foot, the scroll handle to hinged lid designed with knopped finial and a bifurcated thumbpiece, 9.4cm high (inc. thumbpiece) approx. weight 7.7oz cf: for a similar example see Christie's Important Silver, 14th June 2005, lot 34.
