A 1920's silver three piece tea service by Mappin & Webb.
A 1920's silver three piece tea service, comprising teapot, twin-handled sugar bowl and cream jug, each with foliate pierced flared rim above a plain oval bellied body and raised on four paw feet, the teapot with wood handle and lid finial. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., Birmingham 1922. Maximum length of teapot 12.5" (32cm), gross weight 38.69 ozt (1203 grams).
Condition Report:
- All three pieces displaying some general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- Cream jug with heavy impression from one foot seen to the interior.
- Slight impression from a foot also visible to interior of sugar bowl.
- Teapot displaying a few minor surface dints and bumps, mainly to spout.
- Heavy staining to interior of teapot. Domed lid appears in good working order, closing almost flush, rising very slightly on one side.
- All with visible seam lines visible to the undersides.
- Hallmarks appear rubbed, heavier to parts, but mostly legible. Teapot lid further marked with lion passant and date letter.
- Each also with impressed maker's name to underside.
