A 19TH CENTURY RUSSIAN SOLID SILVER AND PEARL ENCRUSTED MODEL OF A HORSE AFTER LANCERAYthe fine late 19th century silver model marked '84' for Russian silver on his left shoulder, depicting an escaped carriage horse in mid canter wearing a carriage harness, the harness set with a ruby coloured gem and with numerous seed pearls, raised on an ebonised rectangular base decorated with a panel of champleve enamel,17cm high x 21.5cm wideThe present model bears a striking resemblance to the horse depicted by Evgenij Aleksandrovic Lansere (1848 - 1886) in his bronze group 'The Kirghiz Falconer', as well as his 'Cossack on horseback'.
