Lot Description:
A 19th Century Bone Fan, the monture carved and pierced and clouté in silver. The leaf of cream gauze, is embroidered with silver spangles and sequins with the addition of oval panels on each fold, the interior of these ovals being thin mother of pearl. Guard length approx. 8.5 inches or 21.5cm. Together with A Regency Period Printed and Hand Coloured Folding Fan, the double paper leaf mounted on basic wood sticks, the scene one of courting, with a suitor proffering a captive love bird to his lady, a church in the background. The verso is plain. Guard length approx. 8.25 inches or 21cm (2)
Condition Report:
. The layer of gauze to the back of the first fan is splitting and lifting in a lot of places. The paper fan has slight wear to the top edge, some pinpricks through the leaf, and the verso layer thin/torn in the centre of the fan.
